Faith Lights a Flame is written by Loni Kemper Moore. This is the first book that I have read by this author. This is also book one in the Silver Receiver Series. I enjoyed this book and was drawn in within the first few pages. It is set in 1929. The author pens this time period flawlessly. I enjoyed going on the adventure that the author took us on.
Chessa wants to go back to a happier time. Her father is facing a death sentence and because of where she came from she has become a racial target. Walker has dreams to become a cowhand - but takes a teaching job in New Mexico. He has an unfortunate accident that leaves him disabled, and Chessa is the one that cares for him - especially when no one else would.
I loved this beautiful story. The author did a great job in showing how hard life was back in this time period. The characters are well written, the storyline intriguing. Thank you to the author, publisher and Celebrate Lit for allowing me to read a copy of this book - all thoughts are my own.
