I love Resurrection Day and tend to be over-committed, but with lots of memories at the end of the day. This coming Sunday, March 31, will be such a day.
First, during a Noontime Prayer day, these verses jumped out at me: Psalms 71: "O God, You have taught me from my youth; And to this day I declare Your wondrous works.
18 Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come."
Well, Pastor Matt, our children's pastor also quoted it saying he needed helpers, so I figured God was telling me I needed to work with the kiddos. My next turn is with the three-year-olds during the 8 am service on this Easter Sunday.
Now, we have a dozen or so coming over for dinner, who are so generous to bring food and drinks Thank goodness, I don't need to have Sunday spreads Mom made for anyone who happened to be at church and didn't have lunch plans. She set a high bar which, if I were twenty-five or thirty years younger, I'd attempt. I'm so excited to have people who will join us.
But the real reason I want to remember Easter as the resurrection day because each year when this day occurs, I think of how much closer Heaven is and how many of those I love who are celebrating this day with Jesus!
Thank You, Jesus for your sacrifice so we can all be together soon.
Amen!
